Thank You, Otis: A Hero Who Saved Chris Honingford's Life!

Help us say THANK YOU to Otis, who saved Chris's life be performing 15 minutes of CPR!! He's a hero and we want to make sure he golfs as much as his heart desires. Thank you so so so much to everyone for your messages of well wishes, we appreciate it and Chris is very humbled by the show of support. We love you all!

If you haven't caught up with this weeks events, here is what happened:

On Tuesday Morning, August 20th Chris was golfing at the Riverbend Golf Course in Renton WA (about 25 minutes from home). At some point on the 3rd hole (he couldn't even make it to the back 9?) he just collapsed.

Chris was golfing with others at the time, but coincidentally Otis and Warren were coming up the 4th hole in his direction. They saw him fall down and Otis performed CPR FOR 15 WHOLE MINUTES. That should be physically impossible! But he saved Chris's life, because it allowed blood to continue flowing to his brain. They defibrillated Chris at the course with the machine from the pro shop, and the paramedics came shortly thereafter.

Chris was admitted to the Valley Medical Center ICU around 10am on Tuesday and was kept in a medically induced coma for 24 hours. His body temperature was lowered to 33 degrees C overnight. On Wednesday they reduced his sedation, Chris started to wake up, and we were able to confirm that he did not suffer from brain damage or paralysis. He was then sedated again overnight and on Thursday they were able to take out his feeding and breathing tubes.

As of Thursday evening Chis has been showing signs of a MIRACULOUS recovery - he is talking and lucid and is making jokes. Thankfully his personality is intact!!! From here he will have everything evaluated more and will likely be in the hospital for about another week.

Shannon and I (Madeline, Chris's daughter) are here and making sure everything is fine. Please don't worry about sending any flowers/gifts although we are very grateful for the offers. We would prefer we can say a big thank you to Otis.
