Support our dream of freedom and music

We are two like-minded crews, Darkbloc Soundsystem and Abyss Sound, based in Istanbul. Our dream is to create free-spaces within anti-capitalist and anti-fascist movements amid the dwindling venues and encroaching restrictions. Our goal is to build temporary autonomous zones where people can come together and appreciate music and community without monetary constraints.

About three weeks ago, we began a journey, driving a panel van loaded with our sound system and stage equipment to Teknival in Albania, seeking to connect with like-minded souls. This journey, however, wasn’t smooth.

In Greece, our van broke down. The repair time was more than we could afford if we were to reach the party. But instead of giving up, we found a solution. We towed our van to the Albanian border and then further into Albania, ensuring we reached our destination where we took part in Teknival, sharing the music that defines us and overcoming challenges together.

This journey transcends mere entertainment for us. It's a way of life, even if only temporarily, where we escaped the isolation imposed by the states and governments.

We refuse to conform or retreat. Instead, we actively seek to challenge the system and imagine a world driven by 'community' and 'solidarity'. We deeply believe in their power. Our pursuits aren't for fleeting pleasures but are a form of societal activism.

Although our journey has had its fair share of problems, from vehicle breakdowns to last-minute generator fixes, we remain committed. However, the return to Turkey hasn't been easy either. While our vehicle was repaired within the borders of Albania, it broke down again in Greece, leading us to different mechanics, auto services, and facing various challenges. Thankfully, with the help of friends, squatters and fellow sound system enthusiasts, we've managed to push forward.

Now, we're reaching out for your support to ensure the safe return of our van, equipment, and comrades to Turkey.
