Support Our Educators – Hardship Fund for Teachers on Strike
The educators of the Fremont Unified District Teachers Association (FUDTA) are preparing to go on strike—not because they want to, but because they must. After months of unsuccessful negotiations, they are standing up for fair wages, access to healthcare, reasonable class sizes, and manageable caseloads. In taking this stand, many of our teachers and staff will face real financial hardship.
We are launching this Educator Strike Hardship Fund to support our local teachers and school staff during this incredibly difficult time. Every donation will go directly to help cover essential needs—groceries, rent, childcare, utilities—for those who are sacrificing their paychecks to fight for a better future for our students.
Striking means going without income. And yet, our educators are taking that risk to demand what every student and teacher deserves: a school system that values its people.
They’re fighting for:
-Fair, livable wages that reflect their dedication and skill
-Affordable healthcare for themselves and their families
-Class size caps so every student gets the attention they need
-Caseload limits so counselors, specialists, and support staff aren’t stretched beyond their limits
For too long, the District has asked our educators to accept less, even as the cost of living continues to rise. Many are working multiple jobs, living with roommates or extended family, and barely getting by even while giving 110% to our schools and students. The District’s continued refusal to prioritize educators in its budget has made this strike necessary.
Now, we’re asking for your help. Your donation will provide direct, immediate relief to those most impacted by the financial burden of this strike. The Strike Hardship Fund will be managed by the Fremont Unified District Teachers Association to ensure funds are distributed fairly and transparently.
Whether it’s $5 or $50, your support means the world to those on the front lines of this fight for educational justice. Let’s show our educators that this community stands with them.
Thank you for your solidarity. Thank you for standing with our teachers.
