Dear friends, family, and compassionate supporters,

We never imagined that our home in Sarasota, FL, would be struck by such a devastating event. On the morning of August 5th, 2024, Hurricane Debby unleashed its fury upon us, leaving our house, cars, and all of our cherished belongings submerged in floodwaters.

Our household includes Janet Ortiz, her two kids, her future daughter-in-law, and her 6 month old granddaughter. Just a few months ago, the bank sent Janet a letter reassuring us that our home did not sit in a flood zone, and as a result, flood insurance was deemed unnecessary. Trusting this information, Janet removed flood insurance from our coverage plan, leaving us unprepared for the catastrophic damage we are now facing.

The destruction has left us heartbroken and overwhelmed. Our home, once a place of comfort and joy, is now uninhabitable. We are reaching out to you, our community, in hopes of raising funds to repair our home and replace the personal belongings that were lost.
