Please help our Farm livelihood affected by Hurricane in NC

As many of you may know Hurricane Helene came through Western NC in a intense way devastating our mountains & communities. We are located in Bakersville NC and trees have crushed many homes and roads are completely blocked or eroding due to water surge/landslides. Power lines are down leaving us with no power/access to internet and there is a shortage of food/water supplies. First and foremost we are safe and grateful to God for all our blessings of family and neighbors that are all coming together to help one another. Our farm animals are also safe and our property damage is fixable. We are blessed, truly. Many folks around here cannot share the same story.

Some of you may or may not know, I work remotely as a therapist via telehealth and Jonathon works our farm & breeds horses. A dream he has followed in hopes of providing the community with amazing animals to help in the therapeutic world, we have invested so much financially into our farm and now find ourselves struggling to provide as the current loss of internet outages have left me unable to work. The power line damage is insurmountable they don’t have estimated timeframe of restoration. The hurricane also washed away many hay barns and damaged pastures which has impacted our local farmers who need to feed their livestock currently and through the winter months ahead.

We carry this worry now as well as our hay supplier informed us his hay supply has all been damaged. This means we have no food for winter and Jonathon will have to travel out of state to find feed for our animals which is costly and financially impossible for us at this time.

We are asking for donations to help us cover costs to access food & supplies for our animals, who depend on us. We also plan to use any funds to help repair damages on the property as well as supporting our neighboring farmers who are also in need of fence repair, gravel, tractor repair, medical supplies for animals etc.

We have also been rescuing some neighborhood horses that have been surrendered by owners due to Hurricane damage, that need our help too!

This farm is our life, the way we provide for our family & our community.
