Support Our Farm Crew's Helene Recovery
Donation protected
Dearest community near & far,
On Friday, Sept. 27, those of us here in WNC that were lucky enough to wake up safe in our beds woke up to a different world.
As Helene moved through our region, she turned quiet creeks into monstrous rushing rivers & mountainsides into deadly waterfalls of mud, trees, & everything else in the way.
She took many lives, livelihoods, homes, & more, including our sweet Mystic Roots Farm.
Once a haven for humans, pollinators, & wildlife alike, Hurricane Helene wiped every bit of it away, leaving hardly a trace that it was ever there.
Until Helene’s pass through WNC, our small-scale regenerative organic farm, nestled into a quiet cove on Flat Creek Road in Fairview, NC, was filled with more than an acre of medicinal herbs; a 60’ high tunnel that housed our microgreens operation; a large building full of an entire season’s harvest, our apothecary, library, & dry room; & so much more.
Our 5 person farm crew worked hard to grow & make potent herbal medicines for our community in tandem with our beloved local Appalachian landscape & culture.
Even after the debris is cleared, there’s no work to return to, no farm to farm, no crops to tend.
In a community with a long & hard road to recovery, your generosity will be divided evenly amongst the 5 employees of Mystic Roots Farm to help us recover lost income so we can continue to meet our daily needs, pay our bills in the short term, & give just a bit of peace of mind while we pick ourselves up, help our community as we can, & prepare to make hard pivots in our lives & livelihoods.
We’re so grateful for your support. Any amount helps & is hugely appreciated.
With love, resilience, & gratitude -
