Support Our Farm's Recovery from Hurricane Damage
Donation protected
Hey everyone....
As you all know by now, Hurricane Helene has ravaged Western North Carolina. We have fared better than many through this disaster, and for that we are so grateful and blessed. However, we have incurred significant damage to our farm. We lost one of our 100ft tunnel greenhouses completely, and sustained some pretty bad damage to the plastic of another. We have also lost all of our crops that were mature or near-maturity...which will certainly mean we'll have nothing to harvest or sell for the next 3-4 weeks. We are replanting what we can, but with winter quickly approaching, options are limited.
Additionally, since we sell primarily to restaurants in the Asheville area, we have lost most of our customers for the forseeable future. This is an industry that relies heavily on tourism in October and November, and I'm expecting tourism to be practically zero for the remainder of the year.
We started our farm in Buncombe county in 2017 growing fresh vegetables and fruits for the people here in WNC, using regenerative and organic farming methods. It used to be just Savannah and myself, with our hands in the soil growing and harvesting produce in the NC mountains....now we have 2 little boys who hopefully will continue the legacy of producing food on our family land! What a journey it has been!
We have never done this before, but we are humbly asking for donations to help replace the damaged greenhouse structures, as well as for lost revenue for the next few weeks. I'm confident if we can get back on our feet following this disaster, we will come back stronger and more determined than ever.
We love you all, and appreciate any help you can offer to see our little farm through this difficult time!
