What we are asking for:

Materials and equipment rentals to start shooting: £35,000

These will include cameras and accessories (lenses, etc.); Machinery and grip such as cranes, stands, fixers, rails, dolly machine, etc.; Lighting such as sky panels, HMI (18 kw, 6 kw), cables, generator, etc.

15% of all donations will go to a charity supporting Moroccan Woman's Rights.

A bit about our film:

It's a story that sheds light on the issue of divorce through the eyes of an 8-year-old child. Through her parent's divorce and the pain of her father’s absence, it reveals the social world of divorce and stigma at school, bringing to light a set of questions that the mother struggles to answer. The narrative also develops into a love story, which reveals the social phenomenon of how separation can be done in a civilized manner.

As the film progresses it will show the progression of the family, culminating with the daughters own marriage as she becomes older. This film will display the complexity of divorce from a Moroccan cultural backdrop, where divorce happens, however involved in expectations of loyalty and shame. In the end, our film will show that even with the loss of love, love can be found again in life, even with all its contradictions.

Producer/ Company Owner

Khalid is the production owner and a freelance cinematographer for the Centre Cinématographique Marocain (CCM). He has over 15 years of film work experience working internationally and in Morocco and has worked on films such as Gangsta, The Negotiator/Beirut and the Hannah series and much more.

SHARLEEN ESTAMPADOR, PHD

Marketing Director/Creative writer/Co-Partner

Sharleen is the co-partner of Flaneur Sensory Productions. She creates content for documentary and film. Sharleen has extensive experience covering social issues in academic settings and published and presented for public audiences.

Our story

Flaneur Sensory Productions came about through several coffee encounters between Khalid and Sharleen in the city of Edinburgh. They found that their skills working in the film industry and in academia could be complementary to documentary and fictional filmmaking.

One afternoon, Sharleen shared a page from Edmund White’s The Flaneur that depicted his observations of a Parisian neighborhood that had the same smells, sights, and sounds as a Marrakesh market. It was this method of observing and meandering the cityscapes that inspired Khalid to incorporate flaneur into the title of the company. Indeed, it was through strolling around the avenues and parks of Edinburgh that their promising creative relationship began.

Our vision is to provoke the sentiments, senses, and awareness of the viewers in each project we undertake. We aim to capture the audience’s attention by transmitting the emotions and details of the scenery directly to the viewers.
