Ffion's Fight

Donation protected
In one moment our lives can change. In such a short time we can go from being happy and healthy to laying in a hospital bed just wishing for a different reality. Life is so precious and there's things that happen to us for no known reason that send us on a totally different path. Sitting with a best friend of the past 11 years on Halloween in her hospital room makes you count your blessings, think what the serious F, and just wishing you could take the pain away.

Ffion went in for a blood test on Thursday, Oct 25 after experiencing varying symptoms and not feeling well on and off since July this year. That night she was called by her doctor and he left two messages advising her to come to the clinic first thing in the morning on Friday as she needed emergency attention. She was told that her blood test showed that all three blood counts were severely low. She was immediately driven by her boyfriend to the hospital in Prince George. She was admitted and put in isolation with needing blood work every few hours.

On Tuesday morning she was flown down to Vancouver. On October 31 she underwent a multitude of tests and was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

Ffion starts her first round of chemotherapy  on November 1 and will need to remain in Vancouver for at least 4-6 months. Ffion lives with her boyfriend and their 2 dogs in Fort St. John. The estimated time in the hospital is one month. They will need to cover travel costs for him to visit, accommodation in Vancouver so she can attend ongoing chemotherapy as an outpatient, a wig to replace her beautiful blonde hair and other related expenses.

The increased symptoms had come on very suddenly in the last 3 weeks, taking all of us by surprise and complete shock. A blood test in July showed no signs of what was to come. Somehow, Ffion still has a smile on her face despite all of this. If you are able to give even $10 it is greatly appreciated, if not, please share. Ffion has a long road ahead of her and your generousity will make this journey just a little bit easier.
