Help Us Stay Sheltered as We Settle and Adjust

Donation protected

Hi everyone, I've never done this before, so please bear with me. Hi, I'm Jessica! My fiancé, Daniel, and I just moved from California to Missouri for a fresh start from the unhealthy and toxic environment we were in. As we prepared to leave CA, we were forced into homelessness by my mother-in-law's unethical decision to evict us by filing a false emergency restraining order. We had all of our belongings tossed outside on the street while we were unable to retrieve them. Since then, we've been spending hundreds on hotel stays or sleeping in our vehicle until we could leave for MO.

We finally arrived in Missouri the first week of November and have been staying in hotels again until we found a suitable place to rent within our budget. We found a place and have been in this wonderful home since the 9th of December. All was well for a bit; my fiancé was able to go to work, and I could continue going to interviews to find a job. Unfortunately, a few days ago, our only vehicle's brakes stalled and completely gave out in the middle of the street on my way to my fiancé's work. It was truly terrifying. We have been to a mechanic and do not have the funds to fix the problem currently. This has caused him to miss work as funds are already close to zero. This has also delayed my ability to see a doctor and get confirmation of my pregnancy and how far along I am since we have recently just found out.

This is a first for us, moving out of state without any support systems, and we need help as we're unsure if we're going to have enough for rent next month and for bills. All funds would be going towards our rent and bills for the month. Any and all help is truly appreciated and will go a long way for us. If anything is left over, it would be put aside for the following month so we don't have any housing insecurity.

UPDATE: It's been almost 2 months since we moved into our little home with obstacles in our way at almost every turn. We were able to survive this month but things are just getting more and more difficult. Washer and Dryer we bought is still not workong up to par after having them replace it TWICE, vehicle still unsafe to drive, unjustly fired from a job during the week it was a bad blizzard that nobody could leave their homes and worrying about making rent and ends meet. Luckily, I have finally received a job offer after many long weeks of interviewing. I'm grateful and I hope that our landlord will be understanding of our situation and allow us a bit of grace with rent I'm trying to stay positive but it feels like I'm being pushed down at every turn. I continuously just think of our precious baby and remember it's all for them ❤️ and it helps me get through the days. I can't wait to find out the gender at my next appointment. I'm VERY nervous and excited!
