SUPPORT OUR FRIENDS WHO LOST THEIR TOPANGA CANYON HOME
Donation protected
Hey fam,
Bridge and Mat have lost their Topanga Canyon home to the Palisades fire. As a lifelong friend and former roommate at the Topanga house, it is devastating to witness the loss of the sanctuary that was created over all of these years. So much love was shared and put into the space, let's come together to help them get back on their feet.
UPDATE FROM BRIDGE —
THANK YOU to everyone who has reached out, each and every message of support has brought us immense comfort in this life-changing event. Words fall short when we attempt to describe the devastation as we are still in the thick of processing, attempting to grieve with the footage we have when we know actually returning is when the next wave of grief will begin. The fire rages on, our town has been protected as of now and for that we are deeply grateful. We are day by day over here, isolated from our community as we evacuated to Long Beach.
We both come from humble beginnings and have worked hard to build the beautiful life we shared in Topanga. We were deeply rooted on that piece of paradise, it was our sense of stability and peace. It is impossible to describe what it feels like to see it reduced to rubble and ashes. While we are maintaining gratitude and perspective, there are continual waves of remembering specific things the fire took that simply can never be replaced — poems, letters, artwork, mementos from our childhood and family members who have passed on.
Every morning starts with my gratitude journal, and every entry included “this sanctuary I have the honor of calling home.” I have rented this architectural gem for nearly my entire adult life, calling it home for a decade plus through such a profound period of growth. My lifelong best friend (we met at age 6) and now partner, Mathew, joined me on the mountain after falling in love with Topanga himself.
In truth, we could have remained in that home for all of our days. We loved every single moment held by our beloved mountain abode. The peace of mind and the sense of self that this space allowed us to cultivate is something that will serve us for all time, including in this abrupt closing of a chapter we would have never chosen to end.”
While there is no way to replace what has been lost, we can make the next chapter a bit smoother with some financial support.
Much love, Steph
