Help Wind Horse Farm Recover from Hurricane Helene
Goal: $10,000
Location: Asheville, NC
Dear Friends and Community,
As many of you know, Wind Horse Farm’s Equine Assisted Learning Program has been a beacon of hope for hundreds in the Asheville community, providing transformative support for individuals facing challenges like anxiety, trauma, and grief. Unfortunately, Hurricane Helene has devastated our beloved community, but we are grateful to report that our two-legged and four-legged residents, along with our dedicated staff, have survived the storm and flooding.

With your support, we are committed to rebuilding and continuing our mission of healing in the wake of this disaster. In this long recovery process, the need for our services is more crucial than ever.

Our Program: Equine-Assisted Learning (EAL) has helped countless individuals of all ages find healing. We offer a trauma-informed approach that fosters personal growth and emotional regulation. Our programs support those grappling with sensory integration issues, anxiety, depression, addiction, and grief, working with diverse groups, including families, couples, and local organizations that address trauma and domestic violence.

What Happened: In the aftermath of the hurricane, our only source of water became contaminated, forcing us to rely on creek water for hydration. Despite a community effort to transport water to our horses, we discovered it was unsuitable for ingestion. We had no choice but to evacuate our horses to a boarding facility. Tragically, during this evacuation, our beloved Guardian Livestock dog, Pearl, was severely injured and required emergency surgery in South Carolina.

Why We Need Your Help: Currently, we are facing a significant financial burden as we navigate the aftermath of the hurricane. With our programs on hold for at least two months, we urgently need funds to support our horses and the farm:

Who/What We Are Fundraising For:
* Boarding and Care: Ensure our horses are safe and well-cared for during their time away.
* Emergency Veterinary Care: Cover costs associated with Pearl’s surgery and ongoing recovery.
* Operational Expenses: Help bridge the gap as we work to restore our program and services for the community.

We have always believed in the healing power of our horses and the resilience of our community. Now, we humbly ask for your support to help us recover and continue to serve those in need.

How You Can Help: Every donation, big or small, makes a difference. Share this campaign with your network, and help us spread the word about Wind Horse Farm and our mission. Together, we can heal and rebuild.

Thank you for being a part of our community and for supporting Wind Horse Farm during this challenging time. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to the farm soon, where healing and growth can continue.

With gratitude,
Mary Theus
