Hi, and thank you for visiting our fundraiser!
We are a small but passionate community group organising a unique cultural event — “Skroderdienas Straumēnos” — an open-air theatre performance and celebration of Latvian heritage taking place on 31 May 2025 at Straumēni Manor (Catthorpe Towers Estate, UK).
This year marks 100 years of the manor and 50 years under the Latvian flag, and we want to bring people together with traditional theatre, folk music, dancing, a market, and a joyful open-air party (zaļumballe).
The event will involve:
Latvian diaspora folk groups from across the UK,
musicians and dancers,
a full open-air stage play based on Rūdolfs Blaumanis' classic “Skroderdienas”, directed by Mikus Krastiņš,
and a vibrant cultural market and celebration for all generations.
We dream of turning this into an annual tradition, but for now — we need your support to make this first edition happen.
We are fundraising to cover:
Stage, sound, and technical equipment
Travel and accommodation for our performers
Costumes, decorations, and venue infrastructure
Marketing materials and event logistics
Our total budget is around £20,000, and every contribution brings us one step closer to making this beautiful event a reality.
If you love community, culture, music, or simply believe in keeping traditions alive — please support us. Every donation, big or small, makes a difference.
With heartfelt thanks,
The “Skroderdienas Straumēnos” Team
