Our Mission:

At the Capricorn Coast Marine Community, our mission is simple yet profound: to rescue, rehabilitate, and protect the endangered sea turtles of our region. These majestic creatures face numerous threats, including habitat destruction, pollution, and the devastating impacts of human activity. Our centre is dedicated to giving them a second chance at life, providing life-saving care, expert rehabilitation, and a safe haven to aid in their recovery.

Through our efforts, we aim not only to rehabilitate individual turtles but also to raise awareness about the critical importance of protecting their habitats and the role we all play in their conservation.

Every donation we receive is vital to our mission and will go towards building a dedicated Turtle Rehabilitation Centre at Causeway Lake, where we will provide:

- Medical Care: We will provide the best medical treatments available for injured turtles, including surgical care, wound treatment, and ongoing veterinary support.

- Rehabilitation: Our new facility will be specifically designed to offer the optimal environment for rehabilitation, giving turtles the best chance to recover and return to the wild.

- Community Education Programs: As we build our centre, we’ll also develop programs to educate the public on the importance of turtle conservation, teaching local residents and visitors how they can help protect these vulnerable species.

Marine Strandings and Our Role:

Through our Marine Strandings Program, we will provide critical assistance in the event of stranded turtles. Whether they are injured, sick, or simply lost, our team is prepared to rescue and rehabilitate these turtles. The program will ensure that:

- We are equipped to respond immediately to strandings in our region, providing urgent care to turtles in distress.

- The rehabilitation process will be managed by trained professionals in our new facility, offering these turtles a fighting chance to return to the wild.

- Our team will also focus on the cause of strandings, collecting vital data to better understand and mitigate threats to the species.

Building the Future:

We are thrilled to announce that CCMC has secured a land lease at Causeway Lake to build our new turtle rehabilitation facility. This site will serve as the heart of our operations, providing a purpose-built, safe environment for turtles in need. Our goal is to develop a state-of-the-art facility that allows us to expand our work, enhance turtle care, and engage the community in ways we’ve never been able to before.
