Support Our Mom in Her Stroke Recovery Journey
Donation protected
Hi, Everyone! As most of you know, our mom Cheryl had a stroke last January 9th. To say it was shocking would be an understatement. She was extremely healthy, didn't drink or smoke, exercised everyday, it really was surreal. To see our mom in such a state was life changing. She spent a month in the hospital and then went to live with our grandparents, as she was unable to care for herself. In time, she went to live with her husband, Henry and has been with him since April, right where she should be.
Our Mom would never ask for help on her own. She would ask for us without hesitation, just like she would ask
for any of you. She is making tremendous strides with her recovery, but her insurance doesn't cover it. ANY of it. It's just over $3,000 a month for her to see two therapists an hour, twice a week, and one therapist an hour and a half, once a week. That's only 5 1/2 hours a week, and she and Henry have been paying out of pocket as there is no other option. She is so optimistic with the progress she's made, WE don't want her to go backwards. We want her to have her life back.
There are so many people who love her and want to see her come back stronger than ever. She isn't working anymore, as she is still paralyzed on her right side, has limited mobility, and can't drive. Giving up CycleBar was something she did not want to do, but as she continues to recover it was necessary.
So we turn to you. Her family, community, friends, loved ones. Cheryl makes everyone better, we are certain that you have experienced this at some point.
There is no "too small" or "too big", just what's right for you, even if that is just words of encouragement.
We love our mom with everything we have, and if we could give her the world we would. We hope we can all give her a little hope to keep going. Her fight is not over.
With Love,
