Introducing Zanzibar EcoHealth Organization (ZEHO)

Zanzibar is known for its beautiful beaches, delicious spices, and luxury hotels. However, behind this idyllic facade, communities face critical health and environmental challenges every day. From malnutrition to skin diseases and inadequate hygiene due to a lack of knowledge and resources, the need for sustainable solutions is more pressing than ever. That's where ZEHO comes in – a young NGO founded by a local doctor and a Swiss psychology student.

At ZEHO, we're not just another NGO in Africa. We're on a mission to create lasting change by addressing the root causes of health and environmental issues in Zanzibar. But we can't do it alone. We need your support to turn our vision into reality.

Our first project focuses on KIJIBWE MTU village, where poverty and poor health are widespread. Through health education, workshops, and behavior change interventions, we're empowering the community to take charge of their health and well-being.

But what exactly will your donation support?

Health Education Campaign: Implementing a door-to-door health education campaign in the village, covering topics such as hygiene, oral health, nutrition, and waste management for disease prevention.
Community Toilets: Constructing communal toilets and providing instruction on their use and maintenance, including the development of a regular cleaning schedule.
Menstrual Hygiene: Purchasing 100 packs of sustainable/washable pads (supporting another women's project on the Tanzania mainland with this purchase)
Water Purification: Procuring 4000 chlorine tabs to purify water and make it drinkable as a short-term solution while planning for a long-term improvement of the water quality.
Workshops for Self-Sustainability: Empowering villagers to cultivate vegetables and raise chickens to become self-sustainable
Women's Empowerment: Establishing women’s groups to teach handcraft activities such as weaving bags, soap making, and pottery, diversifying income sources and improving economic activities.
