LITTLE JOINT EFFORTS TO IMPROVE LIVES

Despite the fact that growth is inevitable, it’s teardropping how the rates of vulnerable elderly have been almost deliberately ignored and totally not paid attention to. In Uganda, for example, due to the alarming levels of elderlies that can barely afford a decent and nutritious meal a day, which has not only caused devastating premature deaths, but also increased psychological distress among them, the government raised concern and started the Uganda “senior” Citizens Grant where the elderly are accorded a monthly portion from the National Cake. This move was welcomed by thousands of them, many of whom were seen lining up for months at Council Offices to have themselves registered for this project. However, the real victims, those that cannot walk due to age and disease, were left in the dark corners of their ramshackled houses, if any, due lack of accessibility. Even the few that succeeded in signing up for the subject opportunity could not do a lot with the USH 25,000/- (equivalent to only $7)! In Uganda, with this money, you would only afford a bar of soap, a kilogram of Sugar and a loaf of bread. Yet sadly, this is what the government availed as a relief fund that this minority group must get every after 30 days, and sometimes way longer than that! This is exactly where BrainSpire Volunteers Africa comes in. Our biggest drive and mandate is to reach all impenetrable areas in a bid to offer the so much needed relief to the elderly. The Medical Services, Food, Clothing, Accommodation, and most importantly, love and company. There are zillions of elderly women and men that pray to God every single day, as they lost hope in life, and can no longer define it. All around and ‘everywhere’ are initiatives to save the girl child, projects to spread awareness about the dangers of corruption, organizations on mental health, among others. It’s such a pity that only a handful, or none at all remember the grey-haired and the contributions they made when they still carried it black.
However, despite how deeply good we are intentioned, we can only do so little as currently, all our reliance falls back on our limited earnings as volunteers, and a few donations from other good-hearted people as ourselves. We need to have partnerships with established hospitals, we need to recruit skilled hands to nurse our friends, we need all the support that comes along the way. Most importantly, we believe we are not alone in the world, there millions of you out there that would want to jump aboard, with social support, moral guidance, financial assistance, and anything kind enough to facilitate this nobble mission. This is why we are reaching out on this fora. Our minds fail on the imagination of how fulfilling and satisfying it will be if we got partners/sponsors to walk this journey with us. We envision a fully organized NGO with offices and a professional network system that channels us to all the categories of people we intend to share with. We envisage a future where even the elderly that are stuck with grandchildren as their responsibility are helped with this levy, carried off their shoulders, and left only with duty to eat, laugh, jog and sleep as they truly need to. As we cannot successfully voice the depth of the joy we’d have on the accomplishment of these our imaginations, so we cannot entirely say how grateful we all shall be left if we got success on this.
