Support Our Resilient Mountain Community Recovery
Donation protected
Hello,
We are Donnie and Whitney. We are the owners of Tucked Inn (Ashe County) and Tucked Inn at Sugar Grove (Watauga County). Our hearts break every time we see or hear about the massive impact Hurricane Helene had on western North Carolina.
To the best of our current knowledge, we were exceptionally lucky and our cabins escaped any major damage. But the region as a whole suffered unimaginable damage. Thousands are still without power or clean water and roadways are blocked or damaged - including those used to access both Tucked Inn locations. Our neighbors in both areas are working very hard to clear roadways and clean up. But with limited supplies and no electricity this is difficult. We want to be able to help them and the wonderful communities in which they live. These are the towns and people who, if you have stayed with us, been so warm and welcoming. Our neighbors and all the friends we’ve made in the region the past few years who have always been kind and quick to help our guests whenever the situation called for it.
We plan to show our support and love by taking supplies - food, water, diapers, pet food, gasoline, etc - with us this when we head up there to assist. Our first of many trips will hopefully be this week. If you would like to aid our contribution to these communities’ recovery and rebuilding efforts we would be forever grateful. Or, please consider donating to organizations such as Samaritan’s Purse or the Red Cross, who are organizing aid on a larger scale. If you are not able to donate monetarily we just ask that you say a prayer and continue to think about these wonderful people and cozy mountain towns over the next few days, weeks and months ahead. It is going to be a very long road but we know the community up there is strong and will come back even stronger.
