People for Perkins -- Support Owen for State Representative

I wanted to share the news with you that I am officially running for State Representative in House District 2!

Yes, we did just finish an election, but in the days after the election, we learned that the State Senator who represents Senate District 31 -- including much of House District 2 -- is resigning, and our current State Representative is running in a special vacancy election to fill the Senate seat. If our HD2 State Rep wins that race, there will be another special vacancy election to fill the House seat, and that's where I'd come in.

This should all be decided in the next couple of months -- ideally with both the SD31 and HD2 potential vacancies filled before the next legislative session begins in January of 2025. It will be a relatively quick campaign, with a very small number of Democratic Party of Denver Central Committee Members from HD2 voting for the candidate to fill the vacancy.

As many of you know, I ran for the seat in 2014, and I have continued working as an advocate for issues like the Environment, Health Care, Gun Safety, Reproductive Rights, Homelessness, LGBTQ+ rights, Education, Campaign Finance reform, and countless other issues over the past 10 years. I'm proud of the success we've had on these fronts, and determined to continue working to improve lives in Denver and throughout Colorado. It's never been more important to find good leaders to run and serve in local and state office, and I am ready to take my legacy of service to the next level.

This is not a traditional campaign -- it's a vacancy committee appointment -- and as such, it doesn't fall under the campaign finance guidelines I've worked so hard to reform. If you'd like to help with the modest costs of reaching voters, printing campaign literature, hosting meet-and-greets, etc., you can make any size contribution here on this page or at the address below.
