Support Palestine For Future
We are Palestine For Future. In times of climate breakdown, political instability and growing injustice we raise our voices for the immediate change of paradigms. It is our future that is at stake and we don't have much time to save it.
We are aware of the life-threatening risks for the planet as a result of the misuse of natural resources and the violation of the laws of nature.
And as we struggle with severe water scarcity, heavy droughts and worsening living conditions in our country, we decided to become part of the global movement “Fridays for Future” that is trying to raise awareness for the climate crisis and to push governments to finally take action.
If the world does not succeed in fundamentally changing their actions over the next few years, there is a threat of a global climate catastrophe that will affect millions of people who are currently still at a young age. At the same time, today's adult politicians will never have to live with the consequences of their own climate policies.
That is why we have been taking to the streets in almost 50 countries around the world on all continents. We have been extremely successful internationally in mobilising hundreds of thousands of young people.
Our goal is the consistent adherence to the Paris climate targets and a climate policy with which those are still conceivable. The world's governments have already set their own climate targets and in theory have already found measures to achieve them. Our sole aim is to persuade the adults in power to put all these goals and measures into practice. But there is still a long way to go.
We as Palestinians, depend especially on the international community to act. We live in a small country that is facing dozens of existential problems at once. Our political situation doesn't allow us to shape the international agreements on climate politics - and yet we will be in the front line when the climate crisis unleashes all its devastating effects. In fact, we are experiencing them right now.
Fridays for Future's next big global strike will happen on 27.09, a day on which people all around the globe take to the streets to demand climate justice and serious climate protection, including here in Palestine.
But this time, it's not only about young people - Scientists, Artists, Parents, Teachers and many more will join our demonstrations. All climate movements will come together on that day to throw their biggest event so far: The Earthstrike.
For this we need your support. It is difficult and expensive to organize an international strike day - we need money to cover transportation costs, for informational material (flyers, posters etc.), and for everything else related to preparation and follow-up. Moreover, we want to educate the people in Palestine about the existential crisis they are facing but may not be aware of. We will give lectures, produce videos (as there is still a big need for Arabic material over the topic of climate change) and other events in the future. Basically, everything that is needed to unite the people for our fight for climate justice.
