Scientists for Palestine's 2025 campaign to support Palestinian academia has two aims:
- 1) Hold those harming Palestinian academia accountable
- 2) Integrate Palestinian scientists with the international scientific community
This is a major international effort that includes taking legal action to hold the EU Commission accountable for allowing Israel’s participation as a privileged member in the EU research program, Horizon Europe.
Join us and help fund our ambitious plans for 2025 (detailed cost breakdown below):
- Challenge Israel's participation in the EU scientific research and innovation program at the European Court of Justice. Horizon Europe, is the world's largest scientific research funding program through which Israel receives significant funding in the order of hundreds of millions annually, among other things for research with military implications: $ 66k
- Launch an online scholasticide archive/platform to increase global awareness and document the long history of Israeli efforts to erase Palestinian academia: $ 15k
- Organize a Palestinian summer school on quantum physics with international lecturers (in-person in West Bank and virtual in Gaza until feasible to go in-person): $ 47k
- Organize the first International Meeting for Science in Palestine in Continental Europe - an international gathering designed to facilitate attendance by our colleagues in the Middle East: $ 42k

WHO ARE WE?
Scientists for Palestine (S4P) is an international organization with the mission to promote science and support the integration of Palestine and its talented academics into the international scientific community. Created by and for scientists, S4P is dedicated to elevating Palestinian scientists who face the daily challenges of Israeli occupation. Thanks to our local connections in Palestine and at leading universities and research institutes, S4P is uniquely positioned to support Palestinian academics’ revitalization of their science infrastructure.
Since 2016, Scientists for Palestine (S4P) has taken a holistic approach to fostering a resilient and thriving Palestinian scientific community:
- We've organized several advanced schools in physics and artificial intelligence at Palestinian universities, such as Birzeit University and the Arab American University of Jenin. These initiatives have bridged the gap between Palestinian graduate students and internationally renowned scientists, helping to overcome the isolation imposed by the occupation.
- Our International Meetings for Science in Palestine (IMSP), hosted by the University of Cambridge, Columbia University, and MIT, have mobilized the international scientific community in support of Palestinian science.
- Our online lectures have reached tens of thousands worldwide, raising awareness and support for our cause. We've attracted prominent scientists, including Nobel laureates such as George Smith and Esther Duflo.
- In the past year, amidst the ongoing war against Gaza, which poses an existential threat to Palestinian education and innovation, we started developing an online Scholasticide Archive to document attacks on academia. This platform will raise global awareness and preserve the history of these challenges for future generations, reinforcing our commitment to a comprehensive and supportive approach to Palestinian science.
