Help the Pali Rec Employees Affected by the Fires

Hi Everyone,

For those who don’t know me, I’m Kim Seddon McCune—a parent, coach’s wife, sports enthusiast, and proud resident of the Pacific Palisades. My sons have played at Pali Rec for the past 13 years, and it’s been such an important part of our lives and this community.

The fires have had a devastating impact on the 21 employees of Pali Rec, and many of you have been asking how you can help. This amazing group of people—our referees, scorekeepers, maintenance staff, schedulers, equipment facilitators, and more—go above and beyond to support our kids and keep our sports community thriving. Most of them (17) work part-time at the Rec and take on side jobs as personal coaches or run camp clinics to make ends meet.

The park is working hard to find jobs for everyone at other locations, but it’s going to be tough to replace the weekly income they’ve lost. On top of that, three of these employees have lost their homes entirely.

These aren’t just staff members—they’re part of what makes the Pali Rec so special. They treat our kids like their own and will be the first ones to step up and help rebuild the Rec, find courts for pick-up games, and keep things going for all of us.

In partnership with Pali Rec's leadership to ensure every dollar goes directly to those who need it most. The funds will be deposited into my bank account and then cash distributions will be made to 17 part-time employees who used to work at the Pali Rec Center. The funds will be distributed evenly.
