Support Pam and Ben's Hurricane Recovery
Donation protected
UPDATE Sun Oct 6 2024:
Pam and Ben have a long recovery ahead of them. Most volunteers seem to be in the popular tourist towns but few volunteers or organizations have been to Hendersonville. Please help their community by sharing Ben and Pam’s story.
Insurance is covering about half of the costs to rebuild. Neighbors are helping each other as much as they can. The National Guard has arrived to keep the peace but no one has seen FEMA, Red Cross or other agencies that normally help in these situations. Erika and Charlie drove from Charlotte today to deliver supplies and help with the debris removal.
Hi! I’m Kim Holmes and I have cousins in Hendersonville, NC that were hard hit by hurricane Helene—Pam and Benjamin Burgess. They don’t have flood or Hurricane insurance as most people in the mountains don’t. Right now, they have no electricity or water and they are blocked from access to town. Their home is unlivable. Their son’s home was flooded. Any amount you can donate will go to help Pam and Ben and their kids while they navigate recovery. They’ve lost so much.
Within the next few months, they will need food, water, clothes, and temporary lodging. They will need help in rebuilding.
I'm in Virginia and road closures prevent us from physically helping them.
