Who We Are:
Paper Parcels is a non-profit project dedicated to helping our senior citizen community feel loved throughout the year. We teach elementary school students how to create beautiful origami pieces, which are then delivered to local nursing homes. Our project not only brings joy to seniors but also instills in younger generations the importance of service and giving back to the community.
Our Journey So Far: Thanks to the generosity of our initial donors, we successfully launched Paper Parcels at Vanderbilt Elementary School for the 2023-2024 school year. We also held summer workshops at Sunrise Senior Living of Dix Hills, where we had the pleasure of teaching seniors how to create their own origami. The smiles, laughter, and connections we witnessed have inspired us to expand our efforts.
Our Next Steps: With a growing team of 20 dedicated volunteers, we are excited to expand Paper Parcels to additional schools and senior centers in our community. To make this possible, we are seeking your support for a second round of donations. These funds will help us purchase the necessary supplies to continue creating and sharing our origami art, as well as support our online presence through our website and Instagram. How You Can Help: Your donation, no matter the size, will have a meaningful impact. By contributing, you’re helping us spread love, creativity, and a sense of community to more seniors and students. Every dollar goes directly towards materials and resources needed to keep our project growing.
