Support Parker's Journey to a Safer State

My name is Milo Crane and this GFM is to benefit my cousin, Parker Kershen.

Parker is a queer autistic man living just outside of Amarillo, Texas. He works full time in food service and enjoys video games and his cat, Fatima.

Parker has been stuck in a holding pattern in Texas. Our family, particularly his immediate family, is extremely conservative and bigoted. They offer him no support, financial or otherwise, despite him being diagnosed as autistic from a very young age. They have called him homophobic slurs and have essentially ostracized him from the family for reasons he has little to no control over.

Parker is looking to move to Portland, Oregon (where I live) to improve his quality of life. Portland is a much more queer-friendly area, and the disability supports available for autistic folks are MUCH better and more accessible than what he could get in Texas. Parker has virtually no disability supports in Texas, and upon learning of all the wonderful ways Multnomah County helps me (I am also autistic), he has decided it’s time to take control of his life and move.

Unfortunately moving is expensive, and years of being self reliant while disabled have left him saddled with a lot of credit card debt. He currently has over six thousand dollars in debt between two credit cards. My goal for Parker is to eliminate his credit card debt in order to be able to save up for a move to Portland so he can have a better life. Parker is very isolated in Texas and I believe being closer to family who accepts him and being able to access disability services will vastly improve his life.

Any donation helps, it will all go towards credit cards debt. Parker will not be making any purchases with either of his credit cards during this time, so the debt will stay the same.
