Pastor Mike Moon Needs Our Help

I’d like to share a story with you about a remarkable man. His accomplishments are great. His heart is kind. He is a true man of God with a servants heart.

I met Mr. Mike (Pastor Mike Moon) on Facebook in 2018 while doing research on Henry County history and the roots of our family. Mr. Mike and I had many conversations on historical references and people and became fast friends.

Mr. Mike has had some health setbacks recently. In December 5, 2023 Mike lost his left leg just below the knee. His insurance would not cover his prosthetic, nor the lift to carry his scooter on his vehicle that he had to have. Other medical needs were not covered as well. He had to try to scrape up the funds to be able to get what was medically necessary for him to function as normally as he could as the “New Mr. Mike,” while healing and relearning to walk and perform daily tasks. While in the midst of this journey, someone emptied his checking account. Mike was devastated but placed his worries in the hands of God.

Here we are a year later and Mike has more serious medical challenges to face. He has to undergo 3 surgeries in the very near future to save his right leg. His out of pocket for co-pays will be $1000.00 and his co-insurance is another $4300.00.

Back in February 2024, sadly someone was able to gain access to his checking account online from Connecticut and frauded his emptied account and took $103, 000.00. I can't imagine the strife that caused Mike. PNC Security is working with Mike to resolve the issue, but they told him they will "try" to get some of his money back.

Being disabled and retired, you can imagine how hard its going to be for Mike to manage his finances when he has lost so much. And Mike needs OUR help.

Here is a little more about Pastor Moon's life history and service and service to others...

Mr. Mike served our country in the United States Air Force as a First Lieutenant performing as a Satellite Engineer for NASA. Mr. Moon was part of the original core group to set up and run the United States Air Force Space Command in the 1980s. He worked on projects to save the Earth from asteroid destruction and National Defense with Dr. Stephen Hawking. Mike is also a long time member of the American Legion giving service to veterans that have served our country.

Mike holds many Ph.D.s including Climatic Physics, History, Astrophysics, and Archaeology. He is also a member of Mensa. Mensa is the world's largest and oldest global high-IQ society.

He also holds a Ph.D. in Biblical Studies and founded the Cottage Ministries of Georgia in 2007 to minister to those who had no faith or no outlook in life. He has ministered and assisted through various churches those that are on drugs and other struggles. He firmly believes in prayer and prays each day faithfully on social media as well as privately for everyone.

Mike was the historian for Henry County, Georgia for numerous years. He freely shares historical and family photos of Henry County and Heard County. He has authored hundreds of books about the history of the region. He has also spent countless hours volunteering his time being the main researcher for the Cemetery Researcher Group of Georgia. His knowledge is remarkable and valuable

As many of you know Pastor Mike lost his beloved wife Linda in 2022 to cancer. He misses her terribly. Pastor Mike and his wife would serve the community by playing Mr. and Mrs. Claus every year and each child received a gift. They fed the less fortunate at Thanksgiving and Christmas. He travels to different regions during the holiday season and puts something special in the Salvation Army kettle. He also helped the Lions and Kiwanis Clubs.

Pastor Moon has helped send children to good schools, outreached to the elderly, paid to bury children when the parents could not afford too, mentored young people in what to do with their futures, worked with the United Way and various other organizations that reach out to people in need, and so much more. He asks for nothing in return.

Since 1993, Mike has published 138 books. Many are historically written for the counties of Henry and Heard County, their families, and backgrounds. He holds various awards for writing and poetry and even was the Poet Laureate to the former Queen Elizabeth. Another accomplishment is he is also the main researcher for the Cemetery Research Group of Georgia, locating thousands of people, soldiers, and hundreds of cemeteries that were lost to nature from years gone by.

He is also a very talented and accomplished artist and can draw people and places with great detail and accuracy. He has mentored and helped young writers and artists because he sees our future in them. Mike is selling his artwork currently for $3.00 so everyone who wishes can own and appreciate art. This is just a sampling of Mike’s talents.

Mike volunteered and assisted the Cancer Society to help those battling this disease. He was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's

lymphoma some years back. With his strong faith he beat it. Non-Hodgkin's is not a curable cancer, but it is manageable. It just sleeps in your cells until the next time.

Mike is retired now. He has had battles with his health for most of his life but kept learning to keep us all safe and protect the Earth. He cares so much for people that even when his body is hurting and he is in pain, he still works to help people as much as he can. He is a true man of God who does whatever he can to help when asked or when he feels there is a cause for his services.

Now Mike needs us. He would never ask for help.

I wanted to do this for Mike, for all he’s done for us, and show him an outpouring of love and care from the people who care about him. We can rally together as a community and help Pastor Mike over this hurdle.
