SUPPORT PATRICK’S BRAIN SURGERY
Hi I'm Pam, and I would like to let those of you who know Patrick Fischer, and haven’t yet heard he has serious surgery on Friday. His vision has been rapidly deteriorating over the past months. After various doctor appointments and tests, he has been diagnosed with a craniopharyngioma brain tumor (most commonly occurring in children but rare in adults) pressing on his optic nerve. Immediate surgery is necessary to try to save and restore, as best they can, his sight as doing nothing would result in complete blindness. As you can imagine, this was a devastating blow to him. He has already had to pay almost $4,000 upfront, and his insurance is an 80/20 split. I have no idea what the total cost will be, but I’m sure it will be astronomical. According to his doctor, it is a very intensive and delicate surgery near the brain and optic nerve. The incision will go from ear to forehead with an opening to access the tumor. He is expected to be in intensive care for three days and then at least an additional five days in the hospital. He will likely be out of work for at least six months. The picture shows him in one of his favorite places, talking with one of his best friends' grandson, Milo. As most of you know, Patrick is an avid race fan and has a wide circle of friends that he would help in any way he can. I know some may not have access to Facebook, so I would ask that you share this with them any way you can. He’s a very personable guy who never meets a stranger, as many of you know, so I’m asking, if possible, to help him with a donation and, most importantly, prayers. The amount is unimportant as anything you can afford will let him know you support him and will be greatly appreciated. I will give updates as things progress.
