Like many organisations, the pandemic was particularly challenging for PBI Ireland. For the organisations we accompany in Africa, Asia and Latin America, their challenges were even greater. Throughout this period, we have continued to support these defenders, organising public events allowing them to share their experiences directly with the Irish public, amplifying their voices through publications and videos, supporting volunteers as they join our field teams, and advocating to help ensure that Ireland is a voice for human rights on the international stage.
Peace Brigades International has 40 years' experience providing physical and political accompaniment, as well as communications and training support to human rights defenders facing persecution for their legitimate and non-violent activism. From LGBTQI rights in Honduras, to migrant shelters in Mexico, women human rights defenders in Kenya, to environmental activists building peace in Colombia , we invite you to take a look at the diverse organisations we accompany as they build a better future for their communities.
