Penn State Trustee Barry Fenchak Legal Fund

As Penn Staters and friends of Penn State Trustee Barry Fenchak, we would like to raise money to help him bring more transparency and accountability to our university and to Penn State’s Board of Trustees.

Elected as trustee by the alumni in 2022, Barry works tirelessly to get Penn State back on a sound financial footing and improve outcomes for students. He listens to university stakeholders and applies real governance methods, critical thinking, and sound decision making to his trustee duties.

On July 16, 2024, Barry filed a lawsuit in Centre County court to compel Penn State to share financial information, to which he has a legal right as a trustee. The University and board leadership have been denying access to this for almost two years, so he had no choice but to sue the Board of Trustees to get it.

Taking on the legal expense to have to sue for trustee information should not be something Barry has to do alone. We Penn Staters can support him, and it is our intention to raise $10,000 so Barry can retain legal counsel. We need Barry to win this case.

We have Barry’s permission to raise these funds. He is grateful for everyone's support, and appreciates that Penn Staters feel this is important to us. All donations will be turned over to him for his future legal expenses. If there are any remaining funds, we plan on donating them to the Student Emergency Fund to aid Penn State students in severe financial hardship.
