Support Perry Klefsky After the Loss of His Wife
My beautiful princess, Jennifer passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2023. 11 months after she was diagnosed with a horrific disease called Cirrhosis of the Liver or ESLD (End Stage Liver Disease).
Jennifer and I were married in December 2021. Not even a year later I woke up one morning to find that Jennifer had a nose bleed that was hemorrhaging badly. It was in the ER when she was diagnosed with the disease and our nightmares began.
Being a caregiver for my wife came with a financial cost to me personally. In these last 11 months, Jennifer was in and out of hospitals non stop. I would take hours off from work, sometimes days at a time, depleting my PTO time from work until I had none left.
I made an appointment with the Liver Transplant Center in June of 2023, but as we got close to the appointment, she ended up back in the hospital again and again. All the while, I’ve had to take considerable time off of work without pay to ensure that she was getting the right level of care. This took a toll on me personally and has depleted my finances.
Over the last couple of weeks, she was declining with multiple organ failures. I spent most of my time with her in the ICU. Because...how can I not....she was in so much pain and agony that she wanted the doctors to make the pain go away.
Jennifer decided to stop all treatments and signed a DNR. They put her on a Morphine drip to take the pain away. All I could do is sit there, watch her lose consciousness and watch her vitals drop and drop and drop. She died within an hour..
This is the most difficult and devastating thing I have ever experienced in my life and it put a financial strain on me trying to pay bills and taking care of Jennifer's needs as she was slowly declining day after day for months.
Your generosity can help me get back on my feet and alleviate some of the financial stress this has wrought. Any contribution you can make will be deeply appreciated during this difficult period.
Thank you for standing with me during this heartbreaking journey. Your kindness and support mean the world to me.
