Support Peter's Family Unification Journey

Peter Atem is asking for your help to unite his family here in Chehalis. The family is currently separated on different continents.

Peter Atem is one of the "Lost Boys of Sudan" who came to the United States as refugees in 2001. Peter returned to Africa in 2017 and got married. In June of 2019, Peter's wife, Nyandeng Adeer, gave birth to a boy. Peter and Nyandeng named their son, Atem.

Peter has been working since 2019 to receive approval for Nyandeng and Atem to come to the United States. Travel approval was suspended during the Covid pandemic, but the suspension has been lifted and Nyandeng and Atem now have approval to travel to the United States.

Travel for Nyandeng and Atem expires on December 5, 2024. Nyandeng and Atem need to be on US soil by December 5th. Peter plans to fly to Entebbe Airport in Kampala, Uganda in November to help Nyandeng and Atem prepare for their move to the United States.

Peter's round trip ticket with cost $1,185.00.

The one way tickets for Nyandeng and Atem to the United States will cost $2,800.00.

Extra luggage pieces for the flight will cost $170.00 each and Peter expects to need 3 extra luggage bags, so the extra luggage will be $540.00.

Nyandeng's mother, 2 brothers and 1 sister want to travel from South Sudan to Kampala to say their goodbyes to Nyandeng and Atem before they relocate from Africa to North America. The family will travel by bus from South Sudan to Kampala to say their goodbyes. Peter believes it will cost approximately $1,500.00 for the family to travel back and forth from South Sudan to Uganda.

With unexpected incidentals, we believe that $7,000.00 should be enough to cover all the expenses and allow the family to unite here in Lewis County.

Peter has been working two full time jobs for a long time to cover the shelter costs for his family in Uganda and his own costs here in Lewis County. Saving for the unification costs has simply not been possible.
