Support Peter's Recovery from Motorcycle Accident

Hey friends, I never really thought I would be in need of help with a medically caused financial issues, but here I am. I was involved in a motorcycle accident in the early morning of Feb 22nd while on a Del Taco run about a mile from my home. I was making a left and the car in front of me (also making a left) hit their breaks mid turn, I was already turning and in the lean. When I hit the breaks the bike fell to the left landing on my left ankle. My ankle was pinned under the 700lb bike. Thankfully some bystanders helped free my leg from under the bike and get me (and my bike) to the side of the road. When I tried to walk I immediately knew this was serious. Luckily my roommate was nearby and helped me avoid the ambulance charges and get me to the hospital a few miles away. When the bike fell on my ankle 3 breaks occurred: medial malleolus fracture, distal fibular fracture, posterior malleolar fracture, this is called a Trimalleolar Fracture. These breaks required surgery, an “installation” of titanium screws and plates, and an inpatient stay of a few days; I was released after 4 days. **Edit**

My recovery should take a few months the first 6 weeks I am not able to use my left leg for any weight bearing. During this time I’ll begin some light physical therapy at home and session at an outpatient therapy facility. After the 6 week mark the surgeon will evaluate the progress with some scans and determine the next step. I was told to expect 14-20 week recovery; I don’t know if this estimate gets me back to %100 recovered. Physically I’m pretty lucky; I had only a few scrapes on my knee and my ankle break. I had my helmet on and did hit my head but no injury to my face or head (shout out to Aria helmets for the save).

The costs are starting to add up between medical, missing work, damage to the bike, and gear needing to be replaced. I’ve estimated that the cost will near about $8000 and I need a bit of help.
