Support Phil's Recovery After Tragic Accident

Our dear friend, Phil Van Tiem, suffered a severe head injury on December 10th when a drunk driver swerved unto the adjacent sidewalk he and his family were walking on. At this time, Phil is in an ICU at a local hospital in Ft Myers, Florida but he must be transferred to a long term care facility in the near future. And although Phil is in a coma, there are hopeful signs that he can and will recover.

Phil's loving wife, Mariam, is by his side every day, using every ounce of her strength to encourage and comfort Phil. Whenever he hears her voice or feels the touch of her hand, Phil's heart rate increases. He can squeeze her hand and even his toes are beginning to move. These are small wins but God willing, Phil will continue to progress and heal.

Mariam is in need of an additional helper which her insurance company will not cover. We are asking not only for your continued prayers, but your financial assistance in helping them afford the level of care Phil needs.

Phil is a very special person to many of us in the aviation community. As a patriot, he served over three years as a Dept. of Defense contractor (AAR Airlift ) flying Dash-8's throughout Afghanistan. The past nine years, he has been flying for United Airlines with four of those as a B737 captain. He is a beloved father, husband, and friend.
