Chip In For Pip As He Faces Cancer

To know Pip is to know a gentle giant who exudes love, laughter, joy, and a deep sense of caring for his community and friends. Those familiar with Pip are aware of his passion for the Giants, Maker's Mark Whiskey, great music, and most of all, all of us. He loves us like a milkshake! Now it's time to return that love and show Pip that we're here for him when he needs us most.

On July 17th, after experiencing unusual symptoms including blurry vision, Pip was diagnosed with clear cell carcinoma, a rare type of cancer. Within days, his life was turned upside down as he underwent brain surgery for tumor removal at CPMC Van Ness, a Sutter Health hospital. Additional tumors requiring treatment have been identified, including one in his kidney, his rib, and another in his brain. Pip is awaiting the next steps in his treatment plan, which will include radiation, possible chemotherapy, occupational therapy, and more.

True to form, Pip is facing his cancer diagnosis with humor, humbleness, and a positive outlook. In his own words, he is "strong like bull" and yes "cancer is HARD". And we all know that cancer is a huge financial drain. (During his diagnosis, Pip had just started a new job at the Boys and Girls Club, and was uninsured.) Let's help Pip maintain his strength as he faces the challenges ahead by easing the financial burdens that come with such a life-altering diagnosis. Pip has helped people all his life…now it’s our turn to support him. All proceeds will go directly to Pip during this critical time of need.
