Support American Legion Post 317's Recovery from Helene
Donation protected
My name is Richard Cox. I am creating this GoFundMe page on behalf of the Davis-Sexton American Legion Post 317 in Marshall, NC. I am the 1st Vice Commander of this post. I live in nearby Flag Pond, TN.
Our property was inundated by the remnants of Hurricane Helene, caused by the flooding of the French Broad River. In the photo, the Post 317 building is in the lower right corner, with the green roof. We lost valuable and irreplaceable documents and memorabilia. The water level reached the ceiling, leaving the interior soaked and covered with several inches of mud. The building is gutted and mucked out, thanks to The Army. We need to rebuild.
All funds donated will be used for the extensive repairs needed, including shoring up the foundation, replacing walls, furniture, all electrical, plumbing, and heating systems.
While we expect to get some help from the national headquarters of The American Legion, it will not cover our total costs.
The members of Post 317 are active in the Western North Carolina region, providing services to the community and veterans. Our building is used for veteran's meetings, as well as community and social events.
Thank you for your support!
