Support Preschool Families

Due to COVID-19, our doors were closed from of April 2020 to August of 2020. Since reopening, our enrollment has been steady but we have yet we have half of the enrollment we had prior to COVID-19 and continue to operate at a deficit. Thanks to a PPP loan, state subsidies and last year's fundraiser, we have been able to keep operating and support children and families we serve. Anticipating that the coming year will not have readily available government financial support, tuition was raised by 6% in September, 2021.
Upon reopening, we trained our teachers and changed the classroom environment and outside yard to be compliant with COVID-19 protocols. To date, our intense sanitizing and adherence to COVID-19 protocols has paid off. Montrose Preschool has remained 100% COVID-19 free during this pandemic. Adhering to COVID-19 protocols means higher operating costs. In addition, the economic effect of COVID-19 has meant increasing staff wages to meet current standards. Wage increases were long overdue and we are gladly providing our staff with pay that better aligns with their valuable contributions.
Montrose Preschool and Infant Care at Crescenta Valley United Methodist Church has been serving the community and assisting parents in providing quality childcare since 1958. Children thrive in our park-like atmosphere - with trees, grass, children’s garden, sand areas music and more all in our Outdoor Classroom. Our Outdoor Curriculum Specialist designs the environment each day that allows children to make choices as they test a variety of materials in each yard based on the development and age of the children. Both indoors and outdoors, we provide ample opportunities for activities that help each child grow socially, emotionally, physically, and intellectually as well as morally and spiritually.
We were awarded “The Best Preschool” in Montrose for 2020, recognized for the quality of our curriculum and care for children. We continue to deliver the same quality care as we manage ongoing pandemic precautions.
Sincerely,
Linda Taylor-Bell
