Support PRIDE in Jackson Hole, WY
Celebrating Pride in Jackson Hole, Wyoming is a necessity.
Jackson is known as the "last of the old west" and for good reason. Its unparalleled beauty and tight-knit community welcomes visitors from all around the world. Creating queer-friendly spaces for our local community as well as those entering the valley only makes Jackson more beautiful and inclusive.
We all belong here, and us locals need some help to create safe gatherings and programs for LGBTQ+ members!
Now, a bit of history:
There was a time when the Teton Pride Picnic hosted by the Jackson chapter of PFLAG was our community's only public LGBTQ+ gathering. The pot-luck style gathering invited queer folk, loved ones and allies to meet and support one another. Then, in 2018, a group of queers got together to host Jackson's first Pride Dance Party, hosted at the Pink Garter Theatre. With 450 people in attendance, the party showcased Jackson's love and support, as well as a need for more queer gatherings.
In July 2018, with staunch community turn-out, the Town of Jackson voted on a non-discrimination ordinance, that would protect its residents from being discriminated against based on their respective gender identities and sexual orientations. The ordinance passed with a 5-0 vote, and Jackson became the second town in Wyoming, the "Equality State", to pass such legislation.
The following year, Jackson's local LGBTQ+ community marched in the Old West Days parade for the first time, and the second Pride Dance Party was an even greater success than the first.
