Support Queer Community on Campus: Keep the Pool Party Alive

Historically, at the beginning of each year, the LGBTQ Resource Center hosted a Queer pool party on campus. This pool party was an incredible opportunity for 100+ students, new and returning, to join the flourishing queer community we have at our school.

The passing of HB 261, the bill used by the state legislature to gut EDI initiatives at the U and other state schools, destroyed the LGBTQ Resource Center and with it all its programming. We want to show those in power that even without a resource center, students, staff, and faculty will come together to support one another.

There is power in joy, and resilience in the bonds we build with one another. Together, we can show all those who would have us eradicated that our happiness will not be impeded. Not by discriminatory legislation, not by unjust laws, and certainly not by hateful rhetoric.

Your donation to our campaign will be used to purchase the rental for the pool at the Student Life Center, food for attendees, and the other supplies necessary to give everyone who shows up a sense of belonging and community.
