The Faust Family Mold Remediation

I’m posting on behalf of my sister, Rachel Faust and her family- Scott, Naomi, Ben, and Drew.

They recently learned that Ben’s mold/mycotoxin levels were very high and his doctor told them to look for mold in their house.

Mold was found behind the walls and floor in the basement, hidden probably since they have owned the house. Scott started mold remediation himself- including tearing out the finished basement (including Naomi’s bedroom) to help keep costs down. However, the extent of the area affected by the mold ended up being much bigger than expected, and a professional remediation company will be starting next week.

The HVAC system has been turned off to limit circulating mold spores/mycotoxins around the home. There has been no AC running since the July 5th and the air quality is poor due to exposed mold (including black mold). For the health and safety of their family, they decided to temporarily move out of the house and into a camper, until this process is completed.

Once remediation is completed, they will need to deep clean the home and all their personal items. Some things cannot be saved and will need replaced (the kid’s mattresses, some fabric items, area rugs, some toys/stuffed animals, porous items, food, etc). The boys will now need to share a bedroom as well, since this will turn their 4 bedroom home into a 3 bedroom home. Their home owners insurance does not cover any of this.

I’m hoping we can join together to help with the financial stress they are experiencing as their family is displaced and for the task ahead.
