Support Rachel Grodek's Directorial Debut

Hello everyone! My name is Rachel Grodek, and I'm a senior Theatre major at Rowan University. I'm currently entering my last two semesters of school. I am so so SO lucky enough to be able to announce that I was chosen to direct the iconic musical, “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee”, music and lyrics by William Finn, with a book written by Rachel Sheinkin, conceived by Rebecca Feldman with additional material by Jay Reiss. Having worked on this story in the past, this show holds a very special place in my heart :)

This show is musical comedy about a fictional spelling bee at Putnam Valley Middle School. The show is based on The Farm's play C-R-E-P-U-S-C-U-L-E and it follows a group of socially awkward children who find joy and purpose in competing. The show is known for its humor, wit, and audience participation!

 

I am very excited for my 'directorial debut’ through lab theatre. Unfortunately, cool ideas cost money, and my production team and I need help! If you are able to help finance this production, the funds would go towards the following:

 

• Paint, wood, and other materials for our set

• Stage lighting

• Costumes

• Props

• Performance Tracks

• Production Rights

• Advertising

If there are any funds left over after all expenses are covered, the remainder will be put towards the two other rowan lab theatre productions going up in the spring.
