Hello, my name is Rahaf and I am 18 years old. My years were not like my current year, as I woke up on October 7th getting ready to go to my school to pursue my dreams. I am a diligent high school student who dreams every day about her results that will bring joy to her family’s heart and her teachers. I couldn’t go to school that day, nor today, and I don’t think I can go for another year. The bombings left me with no school, no study companions, or even teachers. I lost my dearest teachers who used to encourage me towards studying and instill hope in me.

After we were displaced from our home due to savage bombings nearby and flames entering our home, I didn’t care about my clothes or belongings; I only felt a lump in my throat for my school books, which I had wrapped in the most beautiful covers and arranged neatly on my simple desk, where I drew my dreams on their pages. We returned to check on the condition of the house, but my books and notebooks were scattered, and with them, my dreams. There was no home anymore; it had been bombed by the occupation.

We had to evacuate again, and this time it was the hardest, in the early hours of the morning, forced displacement towards the southern Gaza Strip to one of the shelters, where there was no shelter, clothing, or food, leaving behind everything we owned. We spent about two months only to be shocked on the night of December 24th by the news of a house being bombed, inside of which were my uncles and aunts, all of whom we loved dearly, to become 43 martyrs, the dearest of our possessions.

We woke up again to the sounds of bombing and bullets, only to find tanks around the shelter center where we were staying. A building next to us within the center was bombed, but we miraculously survived this time, and we also managed to leave again without any belongings, finally migrating to Rafah on a bitterly cold night where we couldn’t find a place to stay. The rain was pouring heavily over our heads, and the children and adults were shivering from the cold around me. We settled in Rafah in a tent that offered no protection from the summer heat or the winter cold.

We don’t know what will happen next; we are waiting to see what fate holds for us. I couldn’t name what I’m experiencing except for the struggle for life. We are a family consisting of 5 members over 18 years old and two young children aged from 2 to 6 years. Please help my family because we need money in order to save our lives and the lives of our children and live the life we deserve and to complete my education and enter university.
