Support Ralph Kowalczyk s Fight Against Cancer

We are reaching out to you with heavy hearts to share the challenging journey our dad, Ralph Kowalczyk, is facing. Ralph is an amazing father to myself, (Amelia), Isabella and Amandalyn, all in various stages of college.

November started out with joy as Ralph and my mom, Jenn, finally decided to tie the knot after over a decade of being and raising us together. It was an amazing day filled with love that we had envisioned for years.

A few short days later my dad started having chest pains and although my mom was teasing about what married life will do to you, they headed to the emergency room. Things started moving quickly then and in a devasting blow we learned that the occasional trouble swallowing and attributed to heartburn was stage IV esophageal cancer. We panicked, we cried and slowly we came to terms with it and got ready for the fight ahead us of with all the positivity we could muster.

On December 22nd, I was home from college and while we were hanging in the kitchen, my dad had a seizure. As terrifying as it was, I managed to call 911, our journey was about to become, astoundingly, much harder. One look at the ER’s Doctor face as he asked me to leave the room told me everything. My dad called us back in the room and confirmed my fear, the cancer has spread to his brain. 2 Tumors and 11 lesions were found, with a 1.5% chance of esophageal cancer spreading to the brain, it happened. He was finally able to come home on December 29th. By mid-January he completed 10 sessions of brain radiation. As we anxiously await the effectiveness of this treatment (it takes months to determine) we are now in the beginning stages of his chemotherapy path through at the very least July.

Ralph is an amazing, fun loving, present father, husband and friend to many. His friendly, boisterous, sarcastic yet selfless personality always puts a smile on our faces. We know others that spend time with him feel the same. His enthusiasm for all things music, Star Wars and NY Giants is contagious, even if its not your thing. He has been there, always putting us first, offering guidance, love, and unwavering support. As he battles against these aggressive diseases, we want to show him the same level of love and support he has given us throughout the years.

Medical expenses for cancer treatment can be overwhelming. Despite having insurance, the associated costs, such as co-pays, deductibles, medications, and specialized treatments, coupled with him being unable to work is placing a significant financial burden on our family. Additionally, there are unforeseen expenses related to travel, accommodations, and other incidentals that are taking a toll. We have a lengthy road ahead of us.

We have set up this GoFundMe campaign to help alleviate the financial strain on our family as we navigate through this challenging chapter in Ralph's life.
