Support Raquel’s Cancer Recovery Journey
Donation protected
Raquel was diagnosed with breast cancer this January. As you can imagine, the last few weeks have been filled with doctor’s appointments, sleepless nights and phone calls to Service Canada… but Raquel is used to the twists and turns of life and is not despairing in the face of this new challenge.
Over the past few years, while raising her daughter (12), Raquel not only discovered her passion for climbing in our beautiful Squamish, but she also attained her diploma in Professional Counseling and became a Registered Therapeutic Counselor. Slowly, she built her therapy practice up and started seeing more and more clients. Though, as a self-employed individual, Raquel does not qualify for Employment Insurance.
So who is Raquel? Raquel is your neighbour.
Let’s take care of each other.
Raquel once told me that one of the main things she needs to get better at is accepting help from others. What a better time to practice?!
Please help support Raquel and her daughter through her recovery journey. Your contribution will ease financial burdens that, in turn, will help ease emotional ones.
About Raquel’s cancer
What we know: It’s an infiltrating Ductal Carcinoma. She has chosen to go through double mastectomy, which will take place in early April. The recovery is estimated to be 6-8 weeks.
Raquel’s parents are coming over from Brazil to help care for her and her daughter.
What we don’t know: what stage her cancer is at and what next steps will be required (if any) for her treatment.
This fundraiser intends to cover her initial recovery time of 2 months plus some medical and transportation costs. If further treatment is needed, we will update it.
Other ways to help:
• If you know the family well: Can offer a ride to and from activities/school?
• Cook them a meal (Meal train: https://mealtrain.com/6zw728 )
• Other ideas?
If you would like to help in some of the listed ways or any other way, please don’t reach out directly to Raquel as coordinating can be exhausting. Instead, please email raquelrecoveryteam at gmail.com .
Thank you!
