Support Rashida's Journey Towards Independence

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Rashida. Two years ago at the age of 34 I lost my vision due to untreated high blood pressure. Unknowingly my pressure had elevated to a level so high I was diagnosed with optic nerve damage through hypertensive retinopathy. I also have stage 4 kidney disease. It was a very sad time for me and my family. Being able to see for 34 years to complete darkness. I’ve visited numerous doctors to get a second and third opinion, unfortunately the results are the same. My vision loss is permanent . However, I will continue to remain steadfast in my belief that I will regain my sight. I began attending the Center For The Visually Impaired. I continue to learn a lot about being self sufficient. Although there are days where I have to depend on others, like cooking and taking transportation, I know I'm taking steps in the right direction towards independence. I am currently applying for jobs that I can do without difficulty and safety issues. Of course there are days where I still cry and ask myself, why did this happen to me? But there are also days where I am determined to work harder on my future goals of one day having my own business and no longer being a burden on my family. As much as I didn’t want to, I find myself asking for your help. Any amount you can give would be appreciated. Any advise which leads me in the right direction is helpful. Any information you may have is appreciated. In the mean time I am hopeful and determined to regain my vision. Until then I will do my best to remain optimistic while working towards this goal.
