Support Rebecca and Ian After Eaton Fire Loss

Donation protected
A 30-year resident of Altadena, Rebecca McGrew spent decades crafting a peaceful and creative home for her family. Within minutes on January 8, 2025, she and her son Ian McGrew-Yule lost their beautiful haven in the Eaton Fire. Rebecca fled with her beloved Shih Tzu Sammie and only a few essentials, leaving behind all family mementos, an expansive art library, and a deeply personal art collection built through gifts of gratitude from artists she has worked with over the past four decades.

Rebecca has created dozens of award-winning exhibitions and publications, countless public programs, and numerous symposia throughout her esteemed career. Her work has nurtured an expansive network of artists along with significant scholarship around their varied practices. Rebecca’s work has had impacts both broad and deep on diverse community audiences, including the many students at Pomona College, whom she loved mentoring and working with. A steadfast and fierce advocate for artists and students from Los Angeles and beyond, Rebecca is not used to being the one to receive help, particularly in light of her recent employment layoff.

Rebecca’s son Ian is an emerging talent in the field of fashion design. Ian has lost not one but two childhood sanctuaries, as the family home with his late father, Doug Yule (1961-2022), was also burned to the ground in the Eaton Fire.

If you’re lucky enough to know Rebecca and Ian, you know how curious, engaged, kind, ethical, generous, and inspiring they are. This fundraiser is being organized by Justine Bae Bias, Rebecca's long-time mentee, close friend, and colleague from Pomona College; Sarah Meigs, longtime friend of Rebecca, Ian, and Ian's deceased father; and Irene Georgia Tsatsos, friend, colleague, and collaborator of Rebecca's. A donation of any amount will help with immediate needs, and all funds will be transferred directly to Rebecca to support her and Ian and their devoted Sammie following their losses.

Many folks have lost their homes and businesses and the need for support is immeasurable. Thank you.
