Help Us Bring Hope to Those Struggling with Addiction & Mental Health
Hi, my name is Shmulie Russell. By the grace of God and a lot of hard work, I’m grateful to be living a life in recovery—a life I never imagined possible. Every single day, I wake up with a heart full of gratitude.
But I’ve also come to understand just how many people out there are still struggling—facing addiction, mental health challenges, and, often, overwhelming loneliness and disconnection.
Over the past few years, I took a leap of faith and started raising funds to support those who are still in the fight. Together, we’ve raised over $20,000, and that money has gone directly to creating safe, supportive spaces and community events, including:
• Friday night Shabbat meals for 75+ people
• Summer BBQs for over 100 guests
• Saturday night events like bowling, pottery, sushi-making, and movie nights and more
• Helping a single mother in recovery make a full Bar Mitzvah for her son—including buying him Tefillin
• Providing heaters and food for a mom in recovery during a freezing winter
• Hosting a sober Passover Seder for more than 100 attendees
Recently, I’ve been getting more and more calls from families and friends begging for help for loved ones desperate to go to detox—a critical first step toward recovery. Detox can cost up to $1,000 per person, and we’ve already seen lives change when we’ve been able to help fund this step.
But right now?
We’re out of funds.
I’ve had to say no—not because I want to, but because I simply don’t have the resources to say yes. And it breaks my heart.
So I’m asking for your help.
We’re raising a starting goal of $100,000.
• $25,000 of this will go directly to send at least 25 people to detox
• The remaining funds will go toward creating more events, meals, and moments of connection that help people stay strong in their recovery
This isn’t just about events. It’s about saving lives. It’s about giving someone a chance they might not get anywhere else.
The long-term dream?
To open a full-scale mental health and addiction support organization, dedicated to helping anyone who needs it find the community, care, and courage to heal.
If you’re able to give, thank you. If you can’t, please share this with someone who might be able to. And if you have questions or want references—reach out to me directly. I’m here.
With deep gratitude,
Shmulie Russell
