Support Recovery from 11-Year IUD Misdiagnoses
Donation protected
I have started this GoFundMe because it is hard for me to work, it is hard to bend over, and I still must pay rent and bills. I am a single mother of 2 children. I own 2 businesses - I am a photographer and I clean houses.
CT scan proof added to the bottom of this explanation.
Here is my story...
- 11 years ago I had an IUD put in and I was in a tremendous amount of pain. After 2 weeks of pain, I had enough and went back to the same doctor who then did an ultrasound and determined that the IUD was not in my uterus. Guessing it had been rejected by my body, they sent me home telling me it was "ghost pain" from having my first child and from the IUD coming out.
- 2020 I had my son, my second child, very much using my uterus.
- Last October 2023, I went to the ER for a kidney infection. They took a ct scan and determined I had no kidney stones and sent me home with antibiotics.
- June 29th 2024 I saw my primary doctor complaining of sharp pelvic pain. The same pain I have right now. This doctor saw that October CT scan in my MyChart and read "IUD device in left pelvic region". No one had told me this before.
- I have completed another CT scan and I have a referral for surgery. This surgery is not considered emergency surgery and I am not taking pain meds other than nsaids for pain.
I am convinced this is the source of much of my pain and inflammation in my pelvic area. There is also no way of telling if this affected the development of my now 4 year old child.
11 years of holding an IUD in my pelvis, through childbirth, through extra pain when working out, and through other traumatic events.
I will also take references for a lawyer, if anyone knows what to do.
Intrauterine devices (IUDs) can rarely migrate from the uterus to other parts of the body, such as the pelvis, abdominal cavity, or adjacent organs. This is estimated to happen in 1–2 out of every 1,000 IUD insertions, usually within the first few months after insertion. Migration can occur when the IUD cuts through the uterus and travels into the abdomen or peritoneal cavity.
