Support Reggie Rice: Restore His Magic

Donation protected
I met Reggie Rice 20 years ago when he was a 17-year-old working at Hyperspace. He was born to entertain. It's his passion and I would even say his calling. Reggie has worked extremely hard to do what he loves. I am so proud of his accomplishments. A hard loss hit Reggie on Jan 22, 2025, when his rabbit hutch caught on fire. The fire spread to his house. Reggie lost ALL of his performance costumes, travel clothes, his bed and bedding, and some of his illusion props.
Reggie is a beloved community entertainer that is always giving back to our community. Our community needs to step up and rally around Reggie.
If you feel so moved, please consider a donation to Reggie to help him reestablish what he lost.
I will contribute the percentage that GoFundMe takes.
Please read this story of what happened that day. Written by Reggie Rice and close friend of Reggie's

Turning Tragedy into Magic: Reggie Rice's Story of Loss and Gratitude

When you hear the name Reggie Rice, you think of magic, laughter, and a local celebrity who has been entertaining Southern Maryland for 20 years. As a comedy magician, Reggie has brought joy to audiences worldwide, but his journey began here. Recently, his life was shaken by a tragedy that tested his resilience and revealed the magic of community, gratitude, and hope.

A Day Like Any Other
On January 22nd, at 12:12 PM, Reggie Rice wrapped up a school show in Gaithersburg, Maryland. While packing up, Reggie’s phone buzzed with alerts from his home security cameras. He opened the Blink app—and his heart sank. His rabbit enclosure in his backyard was engulfed in flames.

A Helpless Witness
Reggie immediately called 911, followed by his neighbor. Watching helplessly, he saw the fire spread from the rabbit’s enclosure to the shed, then to his house. At 12:23 PM, the camera feed went dark as the power cut off, leaving him in suspense about the damage.

A Heartbreaking Loss
The greatest heartbreak to this is the loss of Reggie’s pet rabbit, Haircules Bundini. Acquired at the St. Mary’s County Fair last September, Haircules had quickly become a cherished part of Reggie’s magic team.
Investigators believe extreme cold caused a heat lamp in the rabbit’s enclosure to short out, igniting the bedding and starting the fire.

The Flames Continue
The fire only damaged the roof on one side, attic, and Reggie’s bedroom. Destroying his bed, suitcase with his clothes he takes on cruise ships, and many of his show's iconic costumes—integral to his magic style—were lost by fire, water, or smoke. The rest of the house was left intact.
“I lost a lot of show costumes, but it’s just stuff,” Reggie said. “I didn’t lose irreplaceable things, like my dad’s funeral poster or our only family portrait with him. Those were miraculously spared, and I’m so grateful.”

A Tribute to Heroes
Reggie expressed immense gratitude for the firefighters who worked quickly to save the rest of his home.
“Firefighters sacrifice so much to save lives and homes,” Reggie reflected. “They’re true heroes, especially in winter when fires are more common. They deserve our deepest thanks.”

The Real Magic of Community
In the aftermath, Reggie was overwhelmed by the outpouring of love from his community. Friends, neighbors, and colleagues—including TJ Javone Jordan, Candy Cain, and the Russell and Redmen families—called as it unfolded to show concern.
A special mention goes to retired Fire Chief John Gatton Jr., a family friend who was first on the scene. Off duty and without gear, John ensured the house was clear before firefighters arrived.

Finding Gratitude and Moving Forward
Despite the challenges, Reggie remains positive.
“This could have been so much worse,” he said. “It wasn’t at night, and I wasn’t home. Most importantly, I still have what truly matters: love and support from my community, friends, and family. Things can be replaced, but love and kindness are irreplaceable.”
Reggie’s message is simple:
“In a divided world, let this remind us of how powerful love is. Stuff is just stuff, but people are the real magic. Thank you for your love and support. I’m more than okay because I have all of you.”
HAVE A RICE DAY!
Reggie’s positivity shines even in adversity. His story reminds us to find gratitude in the good, even during life’s hardest challenges. While Haircules Bundini will be missed, his memory lives on in the magic Reggie continues to share.
