Support Regun's Journey to Recovery

Hello and Welcome everyone,

We are Regun's parents Brent and Shelly. We met Regun when he was 8 years old. he came from a very traumatic background his first 8 years. We adopted him when he was 10 years old. Regun worked really hard on his mental health and was just starting to enter the 9th grade.

He started complaining of knee pain after he completed the CJ Hamm football camp. This went on for a couple week and I decided to take him in. The doctor informed us that he just had some angry ligaments and tendons and to call in a week if it wasn't better and he would refer for physical therapy.

We started PT and it just continued to get worse. I brought him back in and asked for an x-ray. Then I received the phone call no parent ever wants to get.

We were then given directions to go downtown to the orthopedic oncologist for a CT scan. When the results came back he was soon set up for a biopsy. This confirmed that is was in fact osteosarcoma.

After 2 rounds of chemo the tumor grew an inch and a half. I was then decided the leg would need to be amputated above the left knee. We then continued on with five straight days in the hospital every 2 week for chemotherapy for the next 6 months.

Regun is done with treatment but will continue to have many many appointments for years to come. He has been trying to get the hang of the prosthetic and hoping to play football someday. This journey has not only been mentally and physically draining but also financially. Just trying to catch up after taking 6 months off of work and going down to a one income family and raising other children as well.

We are hoping to not only be on the mend with recovery but obviously also catch up financially. Any amount helps and each and every one of you are greatly appreciated. Thank you for even taking the time to read this.
