Support Rena's Recovery
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Jessica Yaeger and I’ve created this gofundme for my sister, Rena Yaeger.
On the night of May 11th, just hours before her 51st birthday, Rena was severely injured in a horrific hit-and-run crash. Her car was t-boned by another driver that left her trapped inside the wreckage until emergency services were able to free her. She was rushed to Flinders Medical Centre ICU where she was intubated and put on a ventilator. She was found to have bleeding and swelling to her brain, a collapsed lung, lacerations of her spleen and liver, and multiple fractures including sternum, pelvis, and ribs. Her friend, Jack, who was in the passenger seat, sustained multiple injuries and is also recovering in hospital. Please keep him in your prayers too.
Rena has undergone multiple surgeries including repair of liver laceration, partial resection of her spleen, and temporary external fixation of her pelvis. She just had another surgery to change her pelvic fixation to internal, so hopefully that will make her a little more comfortable and her body can start to heal.
She was taken off the ventilator the other day and is thankfully breathing on her own. And, although Rena is still in ICU, we are so grateful that she is showing signs of improvement every day.
At this stage, we don’t know how long Rena will require hospitalization, but she undoubtedly has a very, very long road to recovery.
Rena has been an Aged Care worker for nearly 14 years. She is always helping others, and this sounds cliché, but she is honestly one of the most kind-hearted, generous, and compassionate people you'd be lucky to meet.
So my aim is to raise funds to ease the financial stress of future expenses associated with the accident so that my sister can concentrate on her healing and recovery.
Our no.1 focus is on Rena’s healing and supporting her in any way that we can. Any contribution is truly appreciated, whether it be financial, through prayer, or by sharing this page. Ultimately, we just want Rena to get better.
Thank you so much for everyone’s love, support, and prayers during this extremely difficult time.
